As digital fabrication began to grow in popularity across the Middle Eastern region, Qatar Business Incubation Center (QBIC) made a strategic decision to develop its one-of-a-kind Fablab in Qatar – designed to serve all segments of the community, from manufacturing companies and entrepreneurs to small-scale ‘makers’.
Creating and inspiring; learning and designing; prototyping and producing are the keywords that define Fab lab.
The idea behind QBIC Fablab is to introduce the power of digital fabrication to our target audience and to empower entrepreneurs to prototype their products, leading Fablab to become a place of exchange and creation for a wide audience; from university students that includes artists, DIV enthusiasts and researchers, to innovative companies.
QBIC Fablab is the address for Start-ups, Micro-businesses, SME and Manufacturing Companies who wish to launch their business and get all the necessary assistance, from prototyping to manufacturing.
Our Stakeholder
QATAR DEVELOPMENT BANK (QDB) is a financial entity fully owned by the government and set up by Emiri Decree to invest in and develop local industries by promoting SMEs. QDB’s support of QBIC is directly aligned with the bank’s mission, vision and strategy: to accelerate the development of the Qatari private sector in line with the need for diversification; to be the primary enabler of Qatar’s private sector and economic diversification through strategies to shift the economic focus away from the hydrocarbon industry; to stimulate a robust and diverse private sector. QBIC plays an important role in helping fulfil these aims for a thriving and sustainable Qatari economy.
QATAR BUSINESS INCUBATION CENTER (QBIC) is the largest mixed-use business incubator in the MENA region. QBIC was founded by two leading Qatari governmental institutions, Qatar Development Bank (QDB), which is the sole owner, and Nama that supports local entrepreneurs.
Furthermore, QBIC plans on expanding the worth of SMEs in Qatar to reach QAR 100 Million. That's why QBIC empowers entrepreneurs to start and grow their companies through incubation, development, connection, and investments.

What is QBIC Fab Lab?
Fab Lab is a digital fabrication laboratory open to everybody who wants to turn ideas into reality through shared knowledge.
Fab Lab is the educational outreach component of MIT’s Center for Bits and Atoms (CBA), an extension of its research into digital fabrication and computation. It acts as a technical prototyping platform for innovation and invention, providing stimulus for local entrepreneurship. A Fab Lab is also a platform for learning and innovation: a place to play, to create, to learn, to mentor, to invent.
Fab Lab is the ideal space for anyone who aims to turn their ideas into reality through an exchange of expertise. Its facilities provide innovators and entrepreneurs with the opportunity to translate their ideas into prototypes, products and projects by providing a wide range of technologies and methodologies for advanced digital manufacturing, such as: laser cutting machines, 3D printers, 3D scanners, CNC routers, and electronic tools.
